When a daytime drama goes off the air, hundreds of people are put out of work. And, millions of people have an extra half-hour or hour in their day. Since 1999, it seems like soap fans have taken one punch after another. Networks have not spared anyone's feelings when it comes to cancelling programs that have sometimes spanned decades. Now-a-days, networks are in reboot mode. It seems everywhere you turn, there’s a new reboot about to hit the airwaves. Sadly, no daytime dramas have been rebooted by a network. But, what if that was to change? Well, if it does, here is the top five daytime dramas we want back!

For 9 years and over 2,000 episodes, millions of people around the world flocked to their televisions to watch one of the most creative soap operas of all time unfold episode after episode. Santa Barbara was created by writers Bridget and Jerome Dobson (legends in the soap opera genre). It was sexy, innovative, and always had a great cast! Santa Barbara could easily be rebooted and retooled by The CW. A sexy primetime soap with all the children of the show grown up and ready to show some skin! And, of course, you would have your veterans. How many of you would like to see A. Martinez as Cruz again? I know I would!

4. Capitol (CBS: 1982-1987)

With the United States currently in political mode like never before, it is a mystery why some version of this soap opera hasn’t come creeping back on the airwaves. I think this soap would be great on an online platform like NetFlix. Plus, it could fill the void of House of Cards. And, we still are dying to know if Sloan was killed by that firing squad!

3. One Life To Live (ABC: 1968-2012, TOLN: 2013)

One Life To Live has a huge fan base still intact. And, fans of the sudser still have so many unanswered questions from the online version. So, is it time to give One Life a third go-around? This series would look great as a seasonal show. Plus, a main selling point could be its diverse cast and its powerful performing veterans!

2. Another World (NBC: 1964-1999)

It has been gone for almost 19 years now. However, that doesn’t mean that fans of this beloved soap opera have died out. For 31 years, viewers tuned in to see the happenings of Rachel Cory, Felicia Gallant, Cass Winthrop, and many more. Another World was always a pioneer for the genre. And, television in general. Honestly, an online platform or a television network could never go wrong with rebooting this soap! It was so easy to get invested in. And, it is a soap opera still widely talked about after all these years!

1. The Edge of Night (CBS: 1956-1975, ABC: 1975-1984)

28 years, 7,420 episode, a network change, and 3,710 hours of television! The Edge of Night reached many television records. But, it also managed to win over viewers with its view of what a daytime drama should be. The Edge of Night was a crime-opera. High stakes, edge of your seat trials, and a daily dose of murders! This soap opera would be great as an even darker primetime drama on NetFlix. In fact, it’d be smart to do a new murder each season...15 episodes or so of that season. And, so many would love to have this drama rebooted and back on our screens!
